Access Management
What is
Access Management?
Inner Perimeter Road Access Managements
Plan
In 2008 the local governments in Lowndes County and
the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) began to
look at managing the access and maintain the mobility of
Inner Perimeter Road. The Valdosta- Lowndes MPO (VLMPO)
was brought in to educate the local officials and bring
the various parties together to create a common plan
that would effectively manage the rapid and anticipated
development along the corridor.
This corridor access management plan includes only the
delineation of the current and proposed cross-access
points based on GDOT minimum standards and anticipated
development patterns. These median crossings will be
set-out and planned for now, but will be implemented and
constructed at a time only when development adjacent
them is occurring.
The VLMPO is leading an education effort to inform
property owners, business owners, and local elected and
appointed officials about the benefits of access
management and what it means for this community.
On this website officials and citizens can find
information about the benefits of Access Management and
specific information on the Inner Perimeter Road Access
Management Plan. If you have specific questions or would
like to have a speaker come to your next event to
discuss the benefits of Access Management please contact
the VLMPO at 229-333-5277 or at
Corey Hull
