The South Georgia RDC and Moody Air Force Base are
pleased to announce the receipt of a major planning
grant from the Department of Defense, Office of
Economic Adjustment, to undertake a Joint Land Use
Study (JLUS), to address the compatibility of growth
and development taking place around Moody in
Lowndes, Lanier and Berrien Counties with current
and future operations of Moody.
To carry-out the planning process required to
properly address this important issue, the South
Georgia RDC is creating three committees to work
with the RDC staff and Moody officials: a Policy
Committee, Technical Committee and a Citizens
Advisory Committee. The Policy Committee will help
establish the overall direction of the JLUS project,
review and approve policy recommendations, review
and approve draft and final written reports, and
assist in establishing a process to monitor
implementation of the adopted policies. Mr. Parker
Greene, Executive Director of the Moody Support
Committee, has agreed to serve as Chairman of the
Policy Committee. The Technical Committee will
assist with research and data collection, provide
substantive input and assist in the formulation of
recommendations. The Citizens Advisory Committee
will provide input from the perspective of the study
area residents.
This site is intended to provide general information
regarding the JLUS program, however, it in no way
